Yet another...Camp Out and Potty Training!

About a month ago we decided to head up American Fork canyon to the Timpanooke camp grounds for a fun overnighter camp out! We went with my parents and Emily and Jason's family and Mia and Gabe came along as well. We got up there around dusk, and set up, roasted marshmellows and talked...it was great! The camp sight was awesome, and we were right by the bathroom, which was a definite plus! It did get chilly that night, we had Phoebe in a porta crib and Jack was sleeping in between Nick and I, but during the night we moved Phoebe in with us because I was a bit paranoid of her freezing...we didn't get the best night of sleep but it was surprisingly not bad! The next day we woke and made omelets (thanks to Nick), they were YUMMY! Why does food always taste better when your camping? Anyone? Anyway, we cleaned up camp and headed to a trail and took a little hike before heading back home. The scenery was beautiful! We saw the first signs of fall and took some pictures. (I didn't post all of our pics, because I'm kinda impatient.)

Such a cute little Camper!

Jack with Grace and Jade sitting in our campground during clean up...ya, you can see the "double-cousin" resemblance!

We live in such a beautiful place! I love the mountains! And Jack walked the entire hike...it was only about a mile, but that's a lot for little legs!

He Did It All Himself...I Promise!!

During Conference weekend, I decided to potty train Jack! I came to this conclusion...well, because I could tell he was ready. I followed some ideas from my awesome sister-in-law, Bonnie, which included lots of juice, treats and nakedness! We sat in the kitchen drinking juice, having snacks and treats and hurrying to the potty! Jack was a-mazing! Wow...he basically potty trained himself! I gave him some pointers and pointed him in the right direction (literally) and he did great! It has been 2 weeks now, and he's had a few accidents, consisting of, going ON the way to the potty, getting too distracted playing and having wet pants, and just plain missing the toilet! All in all, it's been a great learning experience for all of us...but, the credit goes to Jack! He has even been keeping his pull-ups dry at night! Ya...crazy! Check out some shots of the adventure..

Thank goodness for Spiderman, Incredibles, Nemo, Mickey...(you name it) underwear! That sure helped out a ton!

  1. i agree, food is better camping. i swear it's a combo of cooking on a fire/ working harder to make the food/ being outdoors in the fresh air and a little of getting hungrier from playing outside all day

  2. Yay Jack Jack! We are trying to train Ava right now, but I think I'm going to wait a little longer because she refuses to go on the potty...silly girl!
